Doctors & Staff
Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make East Fishkill Eye Associates the leading provider of vision care products and services in Hopewell Junction.
Dr. Vicki Chenarides
Dr. Vicki Chenarides was born in Concord, Massachusetts and spent her childhood years in Puerto Rico. Later her family returned to Boston where she attended and graduated with honors Manter Hall Academy in Cambridge. Dr. Chenarides obtained her Bachelors of Science in Biology / Pre-Med with honors at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Following her undergraduate studies, she worked on Wall Street while studying for her Masters in Business Administration.
Dr. Chenarides met her husband’s optometrist who introduced her to the field of optometric medicine where she discovered that optometry was a perfect fit for her. Dr. Chenarides then attended and graduated with honors the SUNY College of Optometry – obtaining her Doctorate in Optometry in 1986. While completing her doctorate studies, Dr. Chenarides interned at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in NYC. Also, upon graduation, Dr. Chenarides was recognized by Bausch and Lomb and received an award for excellence in contact lens practitioning.
Dr. Chenarides moved to Dutchess County in 1986 and started a family while working in her profession. She has been an active volunteer in Families with Children from China, many childrens’ sport activities, local vision school screenings, animal rescues, and volunteering at her church’s clothing drives. She has also been a volunteer on the local board of the Hudson Valley Optometric Society for the past 23 years where she held positions from Secretary to President.
Dr. Chenarides and Dr. Roodner met and became friends in 1986. After much discussion and planning – while also raising their families – they pooled their resources, coordinated their schedules and started a successful family eye care practice of their own, East Fishkill Eye Associates, in 1996. They have been happily coordinating their schedules between family activities and professional interests for the past 17 years.
Dr. Debbie Roodner
Dr. Deborah Roodner grew up in the Bronx, attending the Bronx High School of Science, The City College of New York and SUNY College of Optometry. Her father, an optician and his close friend, an optometrist were a sure influence on her career choice.
After graduation, she moved to Dutchess county with her husband, also an optometrist to start a career and family.
She fortuitously met her partner Vicki through a classmate and the rest was history. Together they opened East Fishkill Eye Associates in Hopewell Junction in 1996 where they practice primary care optometry with an emphasis on contact lenses. They have for many years provided kindergarten vision screenings in the local elementary schools.
Debbie enjoys cooking, knitting, volunteering in her local Hadassah women’s organization and having her rescue dog exercise her.
Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. They are excited about what they do, and they care personally about getting the best results for our patients.
Our receptionists will try to accommodate your busy schedule by finding appointment s that suit your needs. We will help you understand your insurance coverage and if financial arrangements are necessary, we will be glad to help you develop a plan to make your vision care treatment possible.
It’s exciting to be a key part of a progressive, leading edge practice. It’s one of my jobs though to make sure that you’re comfortable being here and feel welcomed. We know the technology can be overwhelming for some patients. If you have any suggestions to help us reach our goal of – ‘patients first – always!’ – please let me know!
Our dispensary staff are highly trained to help you select the most appropriate frames and lenses to meet your individual needs. They also take care to properly fit and adjust your new glasses and assist you with any eye wear counseling. Subsequent adjustments are free of charge and if you have any questions or concerns our staff will be delighted to address them as meticulously as possible.
Some tests are done at our office before you see the doctor. These are designed to give the doctor some important information to help him/her better understand the condition of your eyes and vision. Our well trained clinic staff is responsible for this aspect of your examination called pretesting. They are also responsible for guiding you through some tests the doctor may feel are necessary after the examination such as visual field testing, digital retinal photographs and contact lens instruction.
